| A period of growth From the original small shop in Irish Town through to the acquisition of the central premises in Main Street, Sakata enjoyed a string of success under the leadership of Pepe Holliday. The natural progression from pearls to jewellery happened over a period of just a few years. Offices were also opened in the UK and Spain in the 1970's for the distribution and wholsesale of jewellery and watches.  During this growth period Sakata demonstrated its familiar growth and expertise in pearl jewellery, operating at International levels and developing trading links with Japan, Australia and Tahiti.  It was this commitment and expertise in pearl sourcing, combined with the Sakata dedication to personal service and the complete pearl experience that underpinned this early growth period.
